Letting people here know
that this blog is officially retired.I got sick of it as a sideblog and with no way to change that status, decided to remake it as its own blog! You can follow The Wolf over on @schwarzwaldcr now!
I’ll be archiving this one and moving some writings over, but outside of being better organized, it’s pretty much the same setting.
The Core 1-2 by WK042
Just some general references for me to look back on and decided to share these with the rest of our Metro fans for your reference too:
Two 3D exterior maps of the Russian State Library [if anyone can find the interior floorplans to share, that would be amazing]
Two versions of the Library’s logo, the second one is more than likely the Brahmin sigil described in the book
on occasion, when i feel like replaying the library, i’m reminded that while they didnt give librarians the ability to speak, they still made them sing.
and that’s a detail i’ll forever love that was added for the games, given some of the librarians’ deeper lore.
General reminder that No gets a good ending!
Thought about this today and went looking for the original file, but it seems to have gone the wayside outside of this one tiny excerpt I found in a dribbles collection of mine. Which is sad, because the whole thing was actually a fun write.
Have some No being a Big Baby.

“Ah. Here he is…”
Through the gaping hole in the wall and nestled comfortably on a pile of rubble and leaves was a giant pale lump. Volk wasted no time in crossing the threshold into the Librarian’s nest, but the younger stalker stopped outside of it and hid around the edge as though terrified it would spring up and gobble his head off his shoulders.
“No…” she cooed, once close enough to him, and like life breathed into immovable stone, the bulk shifted a bit until a single green eye was seen from below. It was groggy at first, but brightened a bit when it centered on what human had dared infiltrate the nest. “Good morning.”
While the massive mutant untangled himself from his surroundings, she looked back over her shoulder toward the entrance. “This is our alpha, No. Don’t look him directly in the eye. Alphas take that as a challenge for their position, but overall, he’s pretty friendly if you keep your place.”
“God, he’s huge.” came the meek response, the typical reaction to seeing the great pale Librarian at full height. “What if he’s aggressive toward me?”
“Librarians are always aggressive, that’s how No became alpha; by being meaner than the previous. But No was also raised around me, so he’s not too horrible as long as you follow his rules.”
On cue, No flopped forward on his knuckles and nudged her with his head in response, delighted rumbles emitting as she laughed a bit at such an affectionate display. “mssss …. ssssssssssssssssssss…..”
A small and diminutive greeting for something so massive, but she gently patted an arm of his in similar manner as his head-butts. “I missed you too, you big baby.”
He grinned in response, pulling the lip back to show his teeth, but there was a deep noise of choked grunting from his throat that sounded close to a laugh. “sssssssssssssssssssgt”
